Fridge Maintenance That Can Save You Money

There's something gratifying about a clean refrigerator. The inside of your fridge isn't the only part that needs frequent attention, though. Make sure the coils stay dust-free, too. This easy home maintenance task has a couple of great benefits.

First, cleaning the coils improves your refrigerator's efficiency. It doesn't have to work as hard and uses less energy, which can lower your utility bill. Second, brushing or vacuuming out the coils help you avoid damage. By keeping them clean, you can actually prolong the life of your fridge. The less often you need to replace a major appliance, the better it is for your pocketbook.

Getting the inside of your fridge makes it look great. Just think about how much more gratifying it will be when your fridge lasts longer because its coils are clean!

Cooking is an art, and the tools and ingredients you use can be just as beautiful as the dishes you make. Instead of hiding them away, show off your kitchen essentials by storing them in clear jars and arranging them by color or height to create a striking focal point. Consider adding glass-front cabinets with soft lighting to highlight your favorite pieces in an elegant way. You may even find yourself using them more often when they're always visible. Just keep placement in mind — shelves near the sink or stove may need more frequent cleaning.

As the year ends and winter conditions set in, it’s important to make sure your emergency kit is current and fully stocked. Check expiration dates on food, water, and medications, and replace anything outdated. Confirm that you have working flashlights, fresh batteries, a first-aid kit, and essential supplies like warm blankets and a phone charger. An updated emergency kit ensures your household is prepared for winter storms or unexpected situations.

When designing your home, each room requires its own lighting approach — and the dining room is no exception. Choosing the Right Light for Your Dining Table Start by deciding where your dining table will sit in the room. Positioning the fixture above the table is far easier than trying to adjust the furniture later. In many cases, the lighting should be centered over the table, even if that means it isn’t centered within the room itself. Good lighting enhances both the function and style of your dining space. With the right placement and fixture, you can create a warm, inviting atmosphere that complements your décor.

Keeping your home in good condition requires staying on top of routine maintenance — and changing your air filters is one task you shouldn’t overlook. When filters go too long without being replaced, your HVAC system becomes less efficient, leading to higher heating and cooling bills. It can also put extra strain on the system, increasing the risk of clogs or breakdowns. To prevent these problems, be sure to replace air filters regularly and schedule professional HVAC servicing at least once a year. Need guidance on maintaining your system? Contact us for help.

If you’re preparing to sell your home, adding features that raise its value is always a smart move. One upgrade many sellers overlook is installing a fireplace. In today’s real estate market, fireplaces are highly appealing, and homes that include them often list for about 13% more than the national median sale price. Gas fireplaces, in particular, are especially popular right now thanks to their convenience and modern style. Choosing a gas option could give your property an even stronger advantage when it hits the market. Not sure if a fireplace is the right investment for your home? Reach out to us for guidance.
